Baronian Trading

Baronian Trading, an established supplier of magician's ropes, now sells braided cotton rope for bondage. This should be a good choice if you like the softness of cotton, or if you want to recreate the look of 1970s Western bondage.

Knives and marlinspikes by Myerchin  Popular

A marlinspike is a wonderful tool when you are doing decorative ropework like crown sennits. The smooth point slips in between the strands of rope without snagging, and you can tighten individual strands to get a nice, even sennit. I looked long and hard to find a marlinspike with a belt sheath, so I could have it with me when I needed it. I finally found one at Myerchin Gear and Marine Classics. Another thing I was looking for is a traditional fixed-blade sailor's knife. They have them, too. Look under "Rigging Knives -- Fixed Blade".

Rescue knives by Meyerco  Popular

For rope bondage, a serrated knife with a blunt end is good to keep in your bag, in case you have to cut someone out of something your EMT shears can't handle. The best emergency knife I've run into is the "Rescue I" from Meyerco. Search on "Rescue" on their site to see it.

The Twisted Monk  Popular

The Twisted Monk offers 6mm and 8mm Romanian hemp rope, preconditioned, in several different colors. I have not used it yet, but he has a testemonial from Brigett Harrington on his site, so that speaks well of his rope. For a buck, he will send you a six-inch sample in the size and color of your choice, so you can see for yourself. I got a couple of his samples, and the rope is very soft, and the ends are finished with decorative knots. Very nice!
